John Walsh

John Walsh has been representing children for over 25 years and currently supervises the Juvenile Advocacy Project and Foster Children’s Project of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County. For over two decades, John has championed the rights of foster children who have suffered injuries while in care. He identifies vulnerable youth who have been harmed and partners with Justice for Kids and other personal injury law firms to secure the compensation and justice these children deserve.

John is one of the co-creators of the Foster Children’s Project, a recipient of the Congressional Angels in Adoption Award. The Foster Children’s Project was recognized as the most outstanding children’s law offices in the nation by the National Association of Counsel for Children in 2023. Both the Foster Children’s and Juvenile Advocacy Projects have been recognized as two of the top 50 children’s law offices in the nation. Additionally, FCP was the subject of a groundbreaking study by the University of Chicago that proved attorneys can get children out of foster care faster.

He has spoken and written on foster children’s rights nationally and was featured in the book “Democracy’s Local Heroes” for his work with foster children. He is also a co-founder of True North Child Advocates, a national consulting group that has assisted in the creation of other children’s law offices.

John is the co-host of the Children’s Law Podcast. He has tried hundreds of cases involving abuse and neglect, has served as next friend and co-counsel in complex civil litigation involving children’s rights and co-counseled child welfare class action litigation. He has personally represented hundreds, if not thousands, of child victims of abuse, abandonment and neglect. He has supervised teams of attorneys and social workers who have represented tens of thousands of children and continues that work today.
