Florida Child Advocate Howard Talenfeld Selected as a “Leaders in Law” Finalist by South Florida Business & Wealth
Children’s rights attorney Howard M. Talenfeld, Managing Partner of Talenfeld Law, was recently selected as a finalist for South Florida Business & Wealth’s 2015 Leaders in Law Awards. This is the second year of this awards event, which was created to honor the lawyers, law firms, and corporate counsel that promote excellence in law, maintain the highest level of ethics, show a commitment to their community and are proven leaders. Talenfeld was also selected as the winner of the Personal Injury Law category in 2014.
Talenfeld has been a forceful advocate for change, having argued for systemic reform litigation before many state and national groups, including the U.S. Congress, the Florida Legislature, the National Association of State Mental Health Lawyers, the American Public Welfare Association and many Florida legislative committees. He is the founder and President of Florida’s Children First, a statewide group dedicated to advocating for the rights of at-risk youth.
Last year, Talenfeld opened the first law firm in Florida to focus exclusively on protecting the rights of physically and sexually abused, medically fragile, foster and other at-risk children. He is known throughout the legal community and national media as having established a premier children’s rights practice. His work on behalf of at-risk individuals has earned multimillion dollar awards and resulted in sweeping judicial and legislative reforms.
The Leaders in Law nominees were judged on outstanding litigation, advocacy, counseling, and advancements to the legal profession, as well as contributions to the advancement of the bar, such as public service, bar association activities, and pro bono activities.
