Letter to Florida Bar Applauds Children’s Services Council

Children’s rights attorney Howard Talenfeld, who exclusively represents children abused, disabled and injured in foster care and other child welfare settings in personal injury and damages cases, recently had a letter published by the Florida Bar.

In his letter, Talenfeld, who also is the founder and president of Florida’s Children First, the leading statewide advocacy organization for at-risk children, wrote how the Children’s Services Council of Broward County recently took a significant step in its mission to protect at-risk children. The organization approved action needed to hire attorneys for children in the Broward child welfare system.

Organizations tasked with protecting the most fragile and vulnerable children among us must take every step to ensure they provide every measure of protection. With its latest move, the Children’s Service Council has done just that – and at little cost to taxpayers.

But society, Talenfeld argues, will share in the benefits. Kids who receive care and attention earlier during their time in the child welfare system fare better in the long run. And in the long run, that’s better for society.
