Justice for Kids Partner Stacie J. Schmerling Recognized in Florida Trend’s Women Leaders in Law
Justice for Kids®, a division of Kelley Kronenberg, is pleased to announce that Business Unit Leader and Partner Stacie J. Schmerling has been selected to Florida Trend’s Legal Elite NOTABLE – Women Leaders in Law for 2024.
Florida Trend’s editorial review team vetted and selected individual women leaders in law who qualified for inclusion by meeting and exceeding specific methodology and criteria parameters that were put in place for this nomination process. These include making a significant impact in their field, demonstrating leadership in professional organizations and the community, and acting as role models or mentors to others.
Nearly 25 years ago, Schmerling began her career in child welfare as a case manager for the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services and a child protective investigator and supervisor for the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Today, she is a nationally recognized child injury law attorney. Outside of the courtroom, she is a member of The Florida Bar’s Public Interest Law Section and a past member of The Bar’s Legal Needs of Children Committee. Schmerling is a current supporter and former Advisory Board member of Florida’s Children First, an award-winning nonprofit organization committed to protecting and advancing the rights of children and youth impacted by the child welfare, juvenile justice, and disability systems.
The Justice for Kids Division is a robust children’s rights and personal injury practice that spans Florida and has expanded into other states including Illinois. The team provides legal services to abused, disabled, and catastrophically injured children harmed in foster care, shelters, residential treatment centers, group homes, and other child welfare settings, as well as all children harmed by the acts of others.
